Elective Courses

Elective courses will be offered in Fall 2017

Level 1 & 2

Intro TOEFL

Focus: Conversations (L); Opinions (S); Vocabulary (R); Grammar & Cohesion (W);

This elective course introduces students to TOEFL. If you have never taken the exam or if you have little preparation, you can learn basic strategies for improving your score.

Focus: maximizing the score on simpler parts of the exam (non-academic)

Intro IELTS

Prepare for IELTS. All courses were designed by IELTS examiners and teach skills you can’t find in any other book or school.

At Level 2 you can improve your skills on the non-academic part of the exam, e.g. Listening q.1-20 and Speaking (daily topics).

At Level 3 & 4 covers all of the IELTS test, giving you advanced knowledge of how to maximize your score.

Focus on Speaking

Presentations, debate, daily English, interviews.

Learn to give interesting presentations, pass interviews, debate others, and take part in friendly chit-chat.

Focus will be placed on natural English and accent reduction.

Focus On Reading

Students who need extra help with reading can take this elective to broaden their knowledge of subjects and vocabulary in order to improve reading comprehension.

Focus On Writing

Students who are found to struggle with different aspects of writing, e.g. spelling, grammar, organization are advised to take this class as early as Level 2.

Level 3 & 4

College Readiness Workshop

In this extra-curricular, none-graded workshop, you will select colleges and learn about application and interview process.

College Application

Learn to select colleges, interview, and write relevant Personal Statements for college admissions for BA and MA.

Research Paper

Prepare for academic work by writing a 3-page academic research paper on a subject of your choice. Learn to avoid plagiarism, to use quotations APA/MLA citation standards.
